Sowing in the sun ☀️ 30th March – Six on Saturday

Wow what a stunning few days we’ve had in Northumberland. It really does you the world of good to get out in the sun.

Six on Saturday is a great way to share what’s going in the garden. It’s also lovely to read what other gardeners are up to. To join in take a look at @cavershamjj’s blog, & add your link to the comments. #sixonsaturday

1. Anemone 💗

Anemone ‘Harmony Pearl’ this is such a beauty! I love the delicate petals and the way the colour washed out from the center.

2. More Anemone 💕

Anemone ‘Harmony Double Blue’ this is one that I can’t stop looking at. The buds are like a work of art with their little spiky leaves. When they open they are equally amazing with their vibrantly coloured petals.

3. Fruit blossom

Spring blossom appearing on my fruit trees! All my trees are miniature as I’m growing in the garden, this is a plum tree – Prunus Domestica. Bees 🐝 this way please! This is the first year with flowers so fingers crossed for fruit 🍈

4. Bird song

We are so lucky to have quite a collection of birds regularly visiting the garden. Regular visitors include House Sparrows, Blackbirds, Goldfinches, Blue Tits, Coal Tits, Starlings and Wood pigeons (🤦🏻‍♀️). I’ve also spotted a pair of Greenfinches, hopefully they will return. This little House Sparrow is singing it’s heart out 😊

5. Seed Organisation

I’ve managed to collect LOADS of packets of seeds (arguably too many, but that’s another discussion!). I keep them organised using a lever arch folded with plastic wallets that are filled with pieces of card. I then label each wallet eg tomatoes, cucumbers and dill with the seed packets. As well as not having a giant pile of seeds, I’ve found it really helpful to keep track when I’m sowing too. I can’t promise I won’t buy more though! 🤭🌱🌱🌱

6. The BIG sow!

So hubby bought me three gardening magazines with numerous free packs of seeds, in addition to the ones I’d already collected, a large number of which are for flowers. I’m normally a veg girl so I’ve decided to go on a flower mission! 🦸‍♀️ If I can grow veg, I can grow flowers……right? So sowed 14 trays of a whole host of seeds, will keep you posted how I get on.

Thats it for my Six on Saturday – thanks for stopping by!

  1. Beautiful Anemones did you buy them as bulbs/corms or growing in a pot? Curious as I think they are hard to get going from dry bulbs
